No, you don’t have to splash out on a fancy hotel in Singapore or elsewhere to enjoy an infinity pool! We came across this incredible natural infinity pool complete with turquoise waters while looking for wild swimming locations in the Lake District following a stay based in nearby Keswick.
This stunning feature is a short hike just south west of Buttermere Lake, and follows the Warnscale Beck stream that flows into the lake with sweeping views of Haystacks Hill as it looms large to the south west.
How to Get to the Infinity Pool at Buttermere
We’ve provided detailed instructions on how to get to magical natural infinity pool in the Lake District by various means of transport below, as well as general travel information nearby.
By car
Enter the postcode CA13 9XA into your sat nav, which will take you to Gatesgarth Car Park which lies just at the foot of Buttermere Lake. Depending on which way you’re coming from, the route will take you through Honister Pass, which offers some incredible views of the surrounding hills and valleys in this section of the Lake District.
Once parked up, follow the road for around 100 metres southeast along Honister Pass before you reach a sign that directs you to Honister House. Follow the trail through the valley for around 20 minutes. You’ll get a great view of Haystacks Hill as you ascend before you are greeted with a view of a few waterfalls seeping down from a hill to the south.
Upon nearing the waterfalls, you’ll see a series of pools to your left that can be swam in, with the infinity pool (in the image above) being the first one you’ll see. Enjoy the views of Buttermere and the surrounding views in the infinity pool but take care – the water will be cold!
