One of the River Thames’ lovely swimming spots, this location in the village of Aston, just outside Henley-on-Thames heading east towards Marlow, offers swimmers easy access into the water via its south bank.

Arrive at the Flower Pot Hotel and then walk up Ferry Lane before you reach the banks of the Thames.

Take care when swimming as the current in this section of the River Thames can get quite strong, and there are plenty of boats running up and down nearby.

How to Get to the River Thames at Aston

By car

Enter the postcode RG9 3DG into your sat nav, which will take you to the Flower Pot Hotel. Ferry Lane is where you want head to get to the water, though it’s tricky to park on this narrow road. The hotel/pub is your best bet for parking though make sure you’re stopping off for lunch on the way!

From here, simply walk up Ferry Lane until you reach the Thames path heading back westward. This is a good spot to hop in.

By public transport

The village of Aston is served by Henley-on-Thames when it comes to rail. You can either walk over from Henley-on-Thames station, which will take about 45 minutes (though you’ll enjoy a lovely riverside walk as a result) or you can catch the 850 bus from Bell Street before alighting at Mill End, and cross the river at Hambleden Marina.
