You don’t need to travel to Iceland to discover a blue lagoon – Wales has got it’s very own version that is in equal part beautiful and great for a wild swim.

Set amid rugged Pembrokeshire rocks within a former quarry and backed by some beautiful coastline, the Blue Lagoon is an idyllic gem that should form any part of a trip to Pembrokeshire. The light blue and greenish tint of the water is thanks to the high mineral content of the water leftover from the previous quarry.

The lagoon is situated just outside the small hamlet of Abereiddy, which has a cracking beach in its own right.

Note: the Blue Lagoon does occasionally close to the public to allow for neighbouring seals to breed. Keep an eye on the National Trust page for the latest updates.
