landacre bridge on the river barle on a clear summer's day

Situated in the heart of Exmoor, Landacre Bridge is a beautifully preserved medieval bridge that crosses the River Barle near the village of Withypool.

Restored in 1875, the bridge is a great location for a riverside picnic and paddling and is surrounded by typical Exmoor moorland and rolling hills.

Either side of the bridge, there are grassy banks where you can set yourself for the day and enter the water with relative ease. Water levels will vary depending on the time of year and weather conditions, though the water is usually deep enough for swim, or at the very last a good paddle or a jaunt on a paddleboard.
